Job Summary

The Vice President (VP) of Finance is a key member of Centerstone's financial leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). The VP of Finance provides strategic financial leadership, analytical insight, and operational oversight across the organization's financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions.

This role partners closely with the CAO, CFO, and other senior leaders to drive financial excellence, optimize performance, and support data-informed decision-making across all markets and service lines. The VP of Finance will play a critical role in aligning financial strategies with Centerstone's mission, vision, and long-term growth objectives.

Essential Job Functions

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Partner with the CAO and CFO to define and execute financial strategies that support Centerstone's strategic goals, mission delivery, and sustainable growth.

  • Provide expert guidance and analysis to senior leadership to support organizational decision-making, forecasting, and resource allocation.

  • Lead development of multi-year financial plans and long-range forecasts to ensure fiscal sustainability and mission alignment.

  • Support the CAO in maintaining a strong internal control environment and compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, and audit requirements.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Oversee the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with operational and regional leaders.

  • Develop and refine key financial metrics and performance dashboards to monitor operational performance and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Lead ongoing variance and trend analyses to provide actionable insights on revenue, expenses, and capital utilization.

  • Drive financial modeling and scenario planning to support strategic initiatives and market expansion efforts.

Operational & Market Support

  • Partner with Market Presidents, State CEOs, and operational leaders to provide financial guidance and support decision-making at all organizational levels.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor on pricing, cost structure, service line profitability, and capital investments.

  • Ensure financial processes and reporting align with operational goals and provide transparency across markets and departments.

Accounting & Compliance Collaboration

  • Work closely with the CAO and accounting teams to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial statements and reporting.

  • Support compliance with GAAP, state and federal regulations, and organizational accounting policies.

  • Partner in the development of accounting policies and procedures that ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance across the enterprise.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Promote a culture of transparency, integrity, and fiscal responsibility throughout the finance function.

  • Encourage professional development and career growth within the finance and accounting departments.

Performance Improvement & Systems

  • Lead initiatives to streamline financial processes, enhance use of technology, and strengthen data integrity across financial systems.

  • Evaluate and implement best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities.

  • Support integration of financial systems following mergers, acquisitions, or organizational restructuring.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Healthcare experience

  • Multi-state operations experience

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.

  • Deep understanding of healthcare finance, reimbursement, cost management, and financial reporting.

  • Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.

  • Advanced proficiency in financial management systems and tools (ERP, reporting platforms, Excel).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-financial leaders.

  • High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.

Experience and Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related) or CPA designation strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably within healthcare, behavioral health, or nonprofit sectors.

  • Proven experience leading financial operations in multi-entity or multi-state environments.

  • Demonstrated success working within complex organizational structures with shared services or matrixed reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises finance leaders and analysts as designated by the Chief Accounting Officer.

  • Provides leadership, direction, and professional development opportunities to all team members.

  • Collaborates with accounting, operations, and executive leadership to ensure cohesive financial performance across the organization.
