Job description

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is experiencing unprecedented growth. As a result, we have a full-time position available for an Experienced Refrigeration Engineer to join our Food & Beverage group. This opportunity would be available at one of the following office locations: St. Louis, MO; Denver, CO; Bloomington, MN; Madison or West Allis, WI.
Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting job-site surveys
  • Calculating refrigeration requirements for process cooling and building loads
  • Assisting in the development of project documentation including: drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's), equipment schedules, details, specifications, and scope of work
  • Selecting and applying system equipment to new and existing systems
  • Coordinating technical specifications, delivery requirements, and quotation parameters with outside equipment suppliers, subcontractors and clients.

A valid driver's license and some travel will be required.
The successful candidate must have:
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university AND at least six years of relevant experience.
  • PE license is also strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:
  • Experience with Ammonia refrigeration design
  • Experience with food plant project design
  • Experience with chilled water/hydronic design
  • Experience developing P&IDs
  • Familiarity with managing project invoices
  • Experience working directly with clients including marketing to obtain future work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Experience mentoring less experienced staff
