Job description

Description:

CHEM Group is a custom chemical processor with expertise in various distillation technologies, pastillation, blending, reaction chemistry purification and heat transfer fluids.


We are currently looking for a Certified Welder and Fabricator for our Evansville, IN plant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Fabricate, weld, install, and repair carbon steel, stainless steel, and specialty-alloy components.

· Perform SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, and other welding processes required by the work scope.

· Work on process piping, structural supports, platforms, tanks, vessels, guards, and related equipment.

· Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, P&IDs, welding symbols, and technical specifications.

· Measure, cut, fit, form, tack, and assemble components to specified dimensions and tolerances.

· Follow approved welding procedure specifications and applicable ASME, AWS, API, and site requirements.

· Inspect completed work for weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and specification compliance.

· Support preventive maintenance, equipment installations, planned shutdowns, and urgent repairs.

· Complete required permits and follow lockout/tagout, hot-work, confined-space, line-opening, and process-safety procedures.

· Maintain tools, welding equipment, work areas, and accurate job and quality documentation.

· Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, contractors, and environmental health and safety personnel.

· Other job duties/requirements may be assigned or changed to adapt to business needs

Requirements:

Skills and Education Requirements:


Required

· Welding Certification from an accredited organization or an employer-qualified welding program

· 3 or more years of Industrial welding and fabrication experience

· Demonstrated proficiency in pipe and structural welding, including multiple welding positions

· Experience in welding carbon steel and stainless steel

· Working knowledge of safe hot-work practices in an industrial environment

· Ability to successfully complete job-related weld tests

· Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, climb stairs, use a ladder, and comfortably work at elevated heights.

· Must comply with the Drug and Alcohol testing policy as set forth in the Chem Group Employee Handbook

· Adhere to the responsibilities and training outlined in the RCRA Hazwaste Job Duties Matrix

· Pass the fit for duty requirement


Preferred

· ASME Section IX, AWS, API, NCCER, or equivalent credentials

· Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, pharmaceutical, or other process-manufacturing facilities.

· Experience with sanitary, high pressure, or hazardous service piping

· Familiarity with specialty alloys, orbital welding, plasma cutting, or advanced pip-fitting techniques

· OSHA 10/30, confined space, rigging, forklift, or related industrial safety training

· Experience supporting nondestructive examination and quality control documentation
