What to Expect

As a Mechanical Specialist, you will be the go-to resource for technical guidance and hands-on support, ensuring our maintenance department operates safely and efficiently every day. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact by supporting critical operations and contributing to a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Independently support and optimize the maintenance and reliability of complex maintenance systems across the facility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve challenging equipment issues, lead major repairs and installations, and develop programs to enhance performance and safety.
  • Plan and prioritize work schedules, guide operational improvements, and ensure all activities meet rigorous quality and safety standards.
  • Review equipment designs, manage the implementation of new systems, and provide technical support to operations teams.
  • Mentor team members, share expertise, and drive initiatives that strengthen mechanical integrity and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze data to identify trends and root causes, and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Deliver clear communication and actionable insights to help the organization achieve its goals while maintaining a safe, efficient, and high-performing environment.

 

What You'll Bring - Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent
  • 6 or more years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or similar industry
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to comply with the following:
    • Operate company vehicle on site premises and / or public roads up to 50%
    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions.
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment.
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal. (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $127,800 - $156,200.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role's requirements. The Bayway Refinery is located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey. Bayway's facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrodesulfurization and alkylation units. The complex also includes a polypropylene plant with the capacity to produce up to 775 million pounds per year. The refinery processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. Foreign crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker, and domestic crude oil is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transportation. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petrochemical feedstocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. Refined products are distributed to East Coast customers by pipeline, barge, rail car and truck.
