As a leading insurance marketplace, we connect millions of shoppers with a broad ecosystem of insurance partners through modern, data-driven platforms.
We are seeking a seasoned Senior DBA to take end-to-end ownership of database systems on AWS. This is a hands-on, production-critical role responsible for independently stabilizing existing systems while building new capabilities over time. Core technologies are Amazon Redshift and PostgreSQL supporting customer-facing and internal platforms.
Annual salary range: $160,000-$175,000.
What You'll Do
  • Own and Operate Database Systems
Take end-to-end ownership of Amazon Redshift and PostgreSQL environments on AWS supporting customer-facing and internal platforms.
  • Stabilize and Build
Lead stabilization of existing database systems while designing and implementing new capabilities as the platform evolves.
  • Performance and Reliability
Design schemas, optimize queries, and tune databases to ensure high performance, availability, and scalability for production workloads.
  • Data Infrastructure
Design, build, and maintain AWS-based data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and distribution across multiple applications.
  • Monitoring, Resilience, and Recovery
Monitor database health, troubleshoot incidents, participate in on-call as needed, and implement backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness strategies.
  • Security and Compliance
Enforce data integrity, access controls, and security best practices in alignment with internal policies and external compliance requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership
Work closely with engineering, product, analytics, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, well-integrated data solutions.
  • Technical Leadership
Provide guidance through design reviews, documentation, and best practices, with room to grow into broader database architecture ownership over time.
  • AWS Database Operations
Manage and optimize AWS services including RDS, Redshift, and related data components.

What We're Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer in production, data-intensive environments.
  • Strong experience with Amazon Redshift, including schema design, distribution and sort keys, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including replication, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience designing and operating AWS-based data pipelines using services such as DMS, S3, Glue, Lambda, or Kinesis.
  • Solid working knowledge of AWS services including RDS, EC2, S3, and IAM.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and database design principles.
  • Experience with database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, prioritize work, and own outcomes with minimal handholding.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with MySQL or additional relational databases.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing tools or platforms beyond Redshift.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) as they relate to data systems.
  • AWS certifications, including Database Specialty or Solutions Architect.

What We Offer
