Job description


The HSET Advisor will interface with MSHA and State Mine Inspectors regarding compliance with all aspects of health and safety under the direction of the HSET Superintendent or the HSET Manager. This position will
provide leadership and direction of the day-to-day safety requirements in the surface and underground mining operations for Redpath Contracted Projects. The HSET Advisor will be responsible for supporting operations and providing guidance on the implementation of all RUSAC HSET procedures and policies, and all applicable federal and state regulations, to facilitate Redpath's Safety- First, Last and Always practices
Responsibilities
1. Ensures site compliance with Redpath standards, MSHA/OSHA standards, ATF regulations, applicable state regulation and client requirements.
2. Participate in and educate personnel in the Redpath Safety Program and Fatality Prevention Program.
3. Communicate, coach, and assist the workforce to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
4. Uphold the RUSAC HSET strategy for Health, Safety, Environment & Training.
5. Assists with investigations relating to serious accidents or serious injuries, coordinates with site leadership, MSHA and client as needed during these situations.
6. Support & train personnel in Incident Investigations for basic / root cause analysis.
7. Supporting employees and supervisors in conducting risk assessments.
8. Ensures all departments are aware of obligations with respect to compliance to legislative and client requirements, and conditions of the project contract and licenses.
9. Provide support to the project by maintaining a constant visible presence in the field performing underground site visits to the entire project area of responsibility.
10. Briefs project leadership team and supervision of any new or conflictive legislative matters that could
impact the project.
11. Ensure all known incidents are reported immediately.
12. Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up and completed in a timely manner.
13. Review safety obligations of the clients and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the contract,
and communicated to all, employees, leadership, etc.
14. Facilitates RSP training for new Redpath supervisors.
15. Addresses safety-related complaints from employees.
16. Ensures Personal Protective Equipment is being used and properly maintained.
17. Ensure new employees are orientated to the project underground operations, and all required
documentation is completed accurately.
18. Must be able to comprehend and provide written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties in
an efficient manner.
19. Ensure safety boards are maintained with notices including but not limited to: Health and Safety Policy,
Inspections and Audit results, Project Hazard Assessment, Location of First Aiders etc.
20. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
21. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
22. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Safe Work Procedures (SWP).
23. Serve as a point of contact for training related queries and concerns from employees and management.
24. Assess the skill levels of personnel through practical and theoretical evaluations.
25. Provide certification for employees on the successful completion of training programs, ensuring they meet the required competency levels.
26. Conduct onboarding inductions for new and transferred employees, ensuring that all requirements of new / experienced miner training are met including MSHA requirements.
27. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements
to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
28. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
29. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Qualifications
Education:
1. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
2. Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP) preferred.
3. MSHA Instructor Surface and Underground.
4. Incident Investigation Training.
5. Redpath Train the Trainer qualified.
Work Experience:
โ€ข 5 years of Health and Safety experience, preferably in an underground mining environment.
โ€ข Experience in Mine Inspection Techniques(including Health Sampling).
โ€ข Proven accident investigation experience.
โ€ข Trained in all aspects of Surface and Underground mining.
Knowledge Required:
1. Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel.

3. Knowledge of underground mine plants, shaft sinking, underground mining/development and mining
equipment.
