What are redheads?

Redheads are individuals who have naturally red hair, which is caused by a variation in the MC1R gene. This genetic trait results in higher levels of pheomelanin and lower levels of eumelanin in the hair, producing a range of red shades. Red hair is often associated with fair skin and freckles, and occurs in about 1-2% of the world's population. While 'redhead' is not a job title, the term is commonly used to describe people with this hair color.
