Job description

Department: Bariatric Clinic

Schedule: 16 hours weekly

Location: Madison Heights, MI 

  • Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluates effectiveness of treatments. 
  • Assess patients for nutritional status. Provide interventions/treatments including diet therapy, counseling or specialized nutrition supplements. - Collaborate with physicians, nursing and ancillary services such as speech pathology or physical therapy. 
  •  Monitor tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimen and recommend therapy adjustments as necessary. Provide medical nutrition therapy and evaluate effectiveness of treatments. 
  • Provide nutrition information for the community that may include public speaking, news releases and other forms of publications. 
  • Research and take initiatives to resolve nutrition care related complaints and problems. -
  • Assist in monitoring meals including intake, diet compliance and tray accuracy. Maintain sanitation of food preparation area(s) through planned and unannounced inspections.

;CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED

  •  Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. - Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
  •  BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. 
  •  Educator specializing in Diabetes Management preferred.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 
  •  Bariatric experience preferred
