Job description

Alter Metal Recycling is looking for Saw Operators at our Bettendorf, IA location. Candidates must be dependable with good attendance and reliable transportation.

Job Summary: Sets up and operates electric cement saw to cut the aluminum stock. General Laborer assignments.

Requirements: At least one year of industrial experience is preferred in a related field as well as basic mechanical knowledge. Ability to get along with and communicate effectively with fellow employees. Basic math skills, especially the ability to read a tape measure.

Primary skills and responsibilities: (Others may be assigned)

· Reads blueprints for specifications such as material, type, size of stock, and dimensions to be cut.

· Obtains and transfers stock to the machine.

· Basic saw operational skills.

· Marks identifying data on the workpiece.

· Must adhere to the safety requirements of the shop and maintain a clean work environment.

· Install saw blade and set blade tension and cutting speed for specified operations.

· Sets saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts.

· Sets stops and guides to control the dimensions of the cut.

· Positions and secures stock against stops or feeding devices.

· Turns the valve to start the flow of coolant against the cutting area

· Starts the machine and observes its operation. Measures work for conformance to specifications.

· Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel.

· Must have good attendance, be dependable, and have reliable transportation.

Hours: M-F 6am - 4pm

Pay: $18.00/hr.
