Job Title: Machine Operator Department: Fabrication
Shift: 2nd Shift
Hours: Monday-Thursday 3:30PM-2:45AM
Pay Range: $19.30-$25.00+ $1.75 Shift Differential

Job Summary:
Assemble quality tire repairs (patches) from pieces of rubber and fabric by machine and/or by hand.
Education/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred and a minimum of one-year prior work experience.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate machines (TECH 1000, TECH 1001, TECH 3000, 'SLAM', & RO175). Must be willing to be trained and operate any machine as needed.
  • Operate HMI (Human Machine Interface) on machines.
  • Keep supplies fed to the machine and assemblers.
  • Read and follow ISO document charts.
  • Follow work orders closely.
  • Record labor and inventory accurately in MES system.
  • Excellent hand eye coordination is required.
  • Lift, mount, and setup rolls of fabric, rubber, and Mylar on machine spindle.
  • Inspect quality of repair (patch). v Inspect repairs and lay on drill cloth.
  • Occasionally pull plastic film off of rubber repairs (patches).
  • Occasionally assemble, bead /lay pieces of rubber, fabric, and plastic film.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision:
Work independently with little supervision.
Other Skills:
Mathematical Ability: Ability to read a metric scale. Able to add and subtract and do simple division and multiplication. Calculators are available.
Reasoning Ability: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have the ability to Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl,

Frequently exerting or lifting up to 55 lbs. daily. Frequently pushing, pulling and or lifting are required. Occasionally climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, using legs, arms, hands and feet. Emphasizing agility of body.
Work Environment:
Most work areas are air conditioned in the summer. All areas are heated in the winter. Environmental descriptions cover a broad range of jobs, some of which may require less than shown below.
Environmental conditions will vary based on assigned tasks and may include 1/3 to more than 2/3 of the work day, working near mechanical parts, work in high or precarious (various), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat and/or cold, risk of electrical shock, work with explosive(s) materials, risk of radiation, and vibration. There will also be moderate noise levels.
Work Environment: Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
Generally responsible for the safety and cleanliness own work area.
