Job Overview

West Coast Removal is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Shop, Yard & Recycling Manager to oversee and maintain our shop, yard, and material recycling operations. This role is essential to supporting our demolition crews in the field by ensuring equipment is ready, materials are organized, and the yard operates safely and efficiently.

This is not a sit-back position. This is for someone who takes ownership. If something is out of place, broken, unsafe, or inefficient you fix it or report it immediately. You understand that a clean, organized, and operational yard directly impacts productivity, safety, and profitability.

At West Coast Removal, every role matters. The yard and shop are the backbone of field success and this position plays a direct role in keeping projects running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain clean, organized shop and yard areas daily

  • Walk the grounds regularly to identify cleanup, maintenance, or safety needs

  • Sort and separate recyclable materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals and other recyclable materials

  • Prepare and transport recycling loads as required

  • Perform dump runs and manage trailer rotation

  • Maintain organized yard parking and trailer placement

  • Roll magnet in high-traffic areas to remove metal hazards

  • Keep all battery-operated tools charged and ready

  • Clean and maintain tools and small equipment

  • Conduct weekly truck inspections (fuel, DEF, tool inventory, cleanliness)

  • Maintain propane tanks and assist with coordinating tire repairs

  • Deliver and pick up equipment and supplies from job sites or vendors

  • Clean and test resale items when necessary

  • Perform monthly safety equipment inspections

  • Lock and secure yard and shop at end of day

  • Maintain compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction, demolition, scrap, recycling, or yard operations preferred

  • Valid Drivers License with clean driving record

  • Must be insurable under company policy

  • General mechanical knowledge and understanding of construction tools and equipment

  • Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, forklifts, or similar equipment

  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred

  • Scissor Lift, Forklift, and First Aid certifications are a plus (training provided if needed)

  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the day

  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds regularly
