Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-8pm

Recycling Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing repair and maintenance on equipment in a Material Recovery Facility (MRF).  

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Perform all preventive maintenance duties to equipment according to maintenance schedules
  • Track daily work performed and inventory usage in accordance with established company procedures and through designated computer software
  • Continually monitor machinery and make necessary adjustment(s) and repairs to ensure proper operation
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform all duties in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies
  • Complete all paperwork and/or electronic updates as required
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

  • Ability to identify, assess, and avoid electrical hazards in the workplace
  • Skilled in teamwork and working cross-functionally
  • Ability to comprehend and follow safety policies and procedures to determine the level of hazard, proper PPE needed, and job planning to safely perform the task
  • Ability to use heavy industrial shop tools and equipment
  • Ability to effectively use computer systems and software to perform routine job functions
  • Ability to comprehend and follow LOTO policies and procedures

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

  • 1-2 years experience in industrial maintenance is preferred
  • Must be able to complete necessary training to operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

  • Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 20 lbs
  • Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs
  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs
  • Frequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
  • Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
  • Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
  • Frequently climbing and/or balancing
  • Frequently standing/walking; occasionally sitting

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language
