Recreation Director (CTRS)

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000–$95,000 per year

About Ditmas Park Nursing & Rehab

Ditmas Park Nursing & Rehab is seeking an experienced and energetic Recreation Director to lead our Activities Department and create meaningful programs that enrich the lives of our residents.

This leadership role is ideal for someone who is passionate about improving quality of life through engaging recreational, therapeutic, social, and community-based activities. The Recreation Director will oversee all aspects of the activities program while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and fostering a positive, resident-centered environment.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and oversee a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program for residents.

  • Create engaging daily, weekly, and seasonal activity calendars that meet residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor recreation staff and volunteers.

  • Coordinate special events, holiday celebrations, entertainers, community partnerships, and family programs.

  • Complete resident assessments, care plans, progress notes, and required documentation.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.

  • Ensure the department remains compliant with all NYS Department of Health and CMS regulations.

  • Manage the department's budget, supplies, and scheduling.

  • Foster a warm, engaging, and resident-focused atmosphere throughout the facility.

Qualifications
  • CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification required.
