Job description

Establish, supervise, and participate in the conduct of all recreational programs, including lifeguard responsibility in areas of hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and managing. Overseeing the aquatics related functions and training of all lifeguards and pools is a very important part of this position.

Exercise direction over all recreation employees...recreation coordinator, facility attendants, aquatic personnel and summer camp personnel.

Develops, plans and implements new recreation programs and grows current programs. Coordinates staff in the implementation of the programs. This includes summer camps, room rentals, classes, events, etc.

Promotes all recreation activities via social media and websites.

Promotes CLCCA and seeks sponsorships for programs and events.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years' experience in the management, operation and maintenance of an aquatic facility or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in event planning and project coordination.
  • Knowledge of pool chemistry.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Improvement Division (EID) regulations to ensure compliance and public safety.
  • Considerable knowledge of recreation philosophy, planning, and administration.
  • Knowledge of equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in a comprehensive aquatic recreation program.
  • Must be proactive, ambitious, and determined.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and Canva. Experience with any type of Recreation Management Software is a plus!
  • Confidence to speak and present in front of large groups of people.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, sponsors, advertisers, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan and supervise the work of paid staff and volunteers.
  • Must be able to be consistent with payroll, scheduling, and lifeguard in-services.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25lbs.
  • 90 Day probation period required.
  • Must be able to learn and maintain all programs related to the current recreation software
  • Must be willing to become Adult and Pediatric CPR/First/AED certified through the Redcross in the first 90 days.
  • Must be willing to read through all relevant material and understand the ins and outs of the job position.
  • Must be willing to take calls from staff at all hours that the facility is open.
  • Must have strong time management skills.

Salaried position.

Position reports to the General Manager.
