Overview

Responsibilities

This position may be eligible for a hiring incentive as outlined in the approved incentive memo. Details to be discussed during the interview process.

Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, plan individualized care, identify expected outcomes, and implement and evaluate nursing interventions for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; performs therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered; administers medications including controlled substances by all routes; administers blood and blood products; starts IV's; demonstrates CPR according to the American Heart Association standards; responds appropriately to emergency patient situations; performs activities of daily living; performs basic life support and management of arrest situations; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning, and transferring patients and when moving equipment necessary to perform essential functions; adheres to Hospital Policies and to current Infection Control and Safety standards; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and health care team in person and via the telephone and the ability to respond to overhead pages; serves as charge nurse when assigned; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; regular duties as required.

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current Alabama RN license or current Multi-State RN License in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama. Note: USA Health abides by the NLC requirements and guidelines for the state of Alabama.

The nursing personnel of the Post Anesthesia Care Unit must maintain a TCAR or Trauma certification corresponding to their scope of practice and patient population served within 18 months of employment. The certification will be maintained by the HealthStream learning platform and made available to the Trauma Program Manager or Trauma Coordinator upon request. BLS, ACLS and PALS certification may be required per hospital policy.
