As a mental health counselor at Valley Healing, you will leverage various digital platforms for therapy sessions, ensuring effective communication, resource sharing, and client engagement. • Conduct initial assessments to understand clients’ backgrounds, challenges, and goals related to alcohol use.
• Create and implement personalized treatment plans that integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based practices.
• Lead engaging therapist-led groups that promote a sense of community and shared experiences among clients.
• Facilitate ongoing therapy sessions, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to treatment goals.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive client support, including referrals to medical professionals when necessary.
• Actively participate in professional development opportunities by obtaining continuing education unit (CEU) credits, with costs covered by Valley Healing.
• Reduce administrative burdens by utilizing provided support for billing, scheduling, and client management.
• Encourage clients to engage with community recovery support options such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Smart Recovery, and Moderation Management while emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship.

Your primary focus will be on clients grappling with challenges relating to alcohol use, ranging from those seeking moderation to those desiring complete abstinence. You will work closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with unique experiences and goals regarding their recovery journey. This role requires effective communication and strong empathy to nurture trusting relationships, essential for fostering their recovery.

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of California.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the mental health field, particularly focused on substance use treatment.
• Certification or training in CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care.
• Solid understanding of the harm-reduction model and ability to address clients’ varying preferences for moderation versus abstinence.
• Demonstrated clinical engagement skills with a high degree of empathy and understanding of community recovery supports.

• Experience leading support groups or workshops related to alcohol use recovery.
• Familiarity with digital health platforms and tools used for remote counseling.
• Previous involvement in community outreach or education on substance use management.
