POSITION

Human Resources Associate for the Office of Talent Management

REPORTS TO

Executive Director of Human Resources and or Designee

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Associate in the Office of Talent Management orients, conducts, and coordinates information processing in collaboration with the information management team. The Human Resources Associate must be able to effectively collaborate with school leaders in human capital development and support school goals to raise the achievement of all Hartford Public Schools’ students.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receive and screen all applications; obtain all data pertinent to the selection and onboarding process
  • Process and disseminate vacancies including part-time as requested
  • Assist principals/department leads with hiring and process of online applicants
  • Perform background checks on applications
  • Work in conjunction with persons assigned to perform fingerprinting and ensure process is completed prior to hiring
  • Assist with key initiatives in the Office of Talent Management
  • Provide new employee orientation presentations
  • Develop models of work/templates for associates, ensuring communications are clear regarding day-to-day operation
  • Advise leadership team on new employee package materials and distribute pertinent information
  • Lead projects for the Office of Talent Management
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation in the Office of Talent Management
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in business or human resources with at least two (2) years of human resources experience. In lieu thereof, an associate’s degree in a related field and four (4) years of human resources experience or a combination of education and experience in a related field totaling six (6) years.
  • Excellent organizational, proofreading, and record keeping skills required
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and written
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and other applicable databases
  • Problem solver, customer service orientated, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, administrators, and school staff
  • Knowledge of Hartford Public Schools’ policies and practices, desirable
  • Ability to independently identify priority situations and/or mediate concerns in an organized and efficient manner for optimal outcomes
  • May periodically work an extended schedule to meet the needs of the department
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Non-certified

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a twelve-month work year position with a starting salary of $66,000.

EVALUATION

Evaluations shall be conducted annually by the supervisor.
