Job description

Records Technician

The Records Technician plays a crucial role in providing direct support to the Records Supervisor and assumes responsibility for ensuring adherence to the Records department policies and the Firm's standards. Essential duties and responsibilities include demonstrating proficiency in understanding and navigating records software programs, maintaining and updating records and files in accordance with established procedures, responding to queries about records and files, providing accurate and timely information, transferring inactive files to and from storage following file maintenance guidelines, researching information from files in response to requests from authorized users, gathering materials from various departments and employees for filing purposes, tracking materials removed from files to ensure the timely return of borrowed items, managing multiple priorities and deadlines, coordinating projects specific to Practice Groups, performing tasks that support the Firm's requirements, handling other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include in-depth knowledge of file and recordkeeping systems and procedures, familiarity with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the legal field, proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook), experience in interfacing with internal clients, such as attorneys and assistants, strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressured environment, adept at multitasking, organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines, be able to lift and carry 50 lb trans-file boxes.

Education and experience: High school diploma required. Minimum of five years of related records experience required. Prior experience in a law firm environment.

The expected base salary for this role ranges from $70,000 - $80,000. The base salary offer is based on a variety of factors which includes, but not limited to, qualifications, education and experience.
