The EHR Administrator functions as the owner and manager of all EHR Applications for Cooper Clinic. The EHR Administrator manages all problems and coordinates with Cooper Clinic physicians, staff, IT and vendor personnel to resolve any issues. The EHR Administrator also acts in the role of compliance officer for HIPAA related regulations, operational compliance and HIPAA management for Cooper Clinic. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA while performing all duties. 

Serves as System owner/Administrator all EHR Applications for Cooper Clinic. This includes: Touchworks, Athena AP, GMed, EyeMD, Follow My Health and any other EHR systems.

Identifies issues, problems, solutions, education and training requirements, upgrade requirements and any other operational requirements in order to support Cooper Clinic business operations. 

Creates and delivers standardized training plan for all clinic users of EHR applications. This includes the on-boarding of new hires, updates for current employees on an annual basis and hosting skills workshops. 

Identifies and attends annual EHR conferences as required to keep technical skills current.

Partners with the HIPAA Security Officer and Chief Medical Officer to manage the compliance with HIPAA regulations for Cooper Clinic to maintain and ensure clinic business operations. 

Works with HIPAA Security Officer and Chief Medical Officer to identify process, workflow and quality goals and implement agreed upon goals.

Collaborates with HIPAA Security Officer and Chief Medical Officer to identify long term goals for EHR applications.

Manages annual and monthly budgeting for EHR department. Approves and tracks EHR invoices. 

Serves as main contact between Cooper Clinic and EHR vendors.  

Provides and promotes a high level of customer service to internal as well as external clientele.

Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values. 

Follows all Clinic policies and standard operating procedures.

Completes duties on site with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance. 

Accomplishes other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

Possess problem-solving skills, be self-motivated, and strive for professionalism.

Ability to work in group setting as well as work independently. 

Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.


  Education and/or Experience 

Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Knowledge and experience using and managing EHR systems, Healthcare Practice Management Systems, and Healthcare IT in general.

Minimum of 5 years' experience using and managing EHR systems. 

Direct experience working with patients in a clinical or hospital environment managing EHR systems to support business operations.

Familiarity with OSHA regulations concerning patients and clinic situations.  

Direct experience as HIPAA compliance officer or administrator managing operational compliance with current HIPAA regulations. 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk on our campus.
