Most record store jobs are retail sales positions, but you may also find a role as a store manager, accountant, or security guard. Customer-facing jobs require extensive knowledge of the store's inventory, including music genres, music labels, and lesser-known musicians. Some record stores sell other products, including instruments, and this can open up new job opportunities for things like music instructors.

What are some common challenges faced by staff working in a record store, and how can they be overcome?
