A Recon Manager, short for Reconditioning Manager, is responsible for overseeing the process of inspecting, repairing, and preparing vehicles—often used cars—for resale at dealerships or auction. They coordinate teams of technicians, set quality standards, and ensure that vehicles are reconditioned efficiently and cost-effectively. Recon Managers also track inventory, manage budgets, and work closely with sales and service departments to meet business goals. Their role is crucial in maximizing vehicle value and customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recon manager?

To thrive as a Recon Manager, you need strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and experience in inventory control or automotive reconditioning, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience.
