Job Title: Receptionist/Clerk
Department: Head Start
Reports To: Center Coordinator
Status: Non Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for receptionist duties relating to operating the PBX telephone system, greeting visitors, and providing clerical support to Center staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Receive, screen and route telephone calls to appropriate destination.
2. Greet visitors and staff in a professional and courteous manner and direct them appropriately.
3. Perform clerical activities, such as typing, filing, scheduling, and processing mail.
4. Maintain various listings and records, such as pertaining to long distance calls.
5. Perform simple accounting tasks as required.
6. Perform other related work and acquire related job skills as required by management.
ACCOUNTABILITY
For professional and courteous treatment of all callers and visitors and for quality and timeliness of work.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the Job Description.
Minimum one-year related work experience in an office environment.
Valid South Carolina Driver's License

Must have knowledge of basic elements of correct English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic; principles of letter and report writing; and filing systems.
Must have ability to communicate with a variety of people, work independently, and maintain strict confidentiality of program data. Must be cooperative and display a positive attitude towards working as a team with other staff members. Must exercise discretion and sound judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
