What You'll Do as a Clinic Receptionist

  • Greet patients and visitors with a warm, professional demeanor, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Answer incoming calls, provide accurate information, and direct inquiries to the appropriate department.
  • Schedule appointments, verify patient insurance information, and maintain an organized scheduling system.

Qualifications

  • Skills & Abilities: Proficiency in medical terminology and administrative skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of privacy regulations, such as HIPAA. Strong computer proficiency and organizational abilities. Adaptability, attention to detail, and effective time management.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Primarily sitting for extended periods at a computer workstation or front desk; occasional standing to assist patients.
  • Minimal lifting, such as handling files or office supplies.
  • Regular use of a computer keyboard for data entry and documentation.
  • Good visual acuity for reading patient information, documents, and computer screens.
  • Indoor, climate-controlled office environment with regular interaction with patients, families, and staff.
  • Typically follows regular business hours, with occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays based on clinic needs.
