Job description

The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all products that are received and/or shipped out of a specific location during the assigned shift.

During their shift, Shipper/ Receivers work together in three main functions of the department: receiving, inventory control and cooler operations and shipping. They will work to company guidelines with respect to quality control, safety, and standard operating procedures to execute an accurate and on-time shipping function under the direction of shipping operations leadership.

This position reports to the Shipping & Receiving Manager in charge of a given shift (AM, MID, PM) in Boston.

  • Assist with the flow of goods; shipping and receiving of product
  • Obtain and process product orders
  • Receive, register and distributing packages and letters within the company
  • Maintain the company stockroom through organizing, cleaning, and cataloging items
  • Assist with large shipments and planning of the logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items
  • Keep files of goods shipped and received
  • Ensure that the right products are delivered to that right location, on time
  • Assist with the assurance that quality, quantity, and customer satisfaction are met
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of coolers and warehouse orders
  • Tracking and reporting to leadership: back-orders short-list items, and unfulfilled orders

Requirements

  • 1+ years, experience in a Shipping or Receiving position
  • 1+ years, experience operating forklifts
  • Experience in food manufacturing; seafood or meat processing a plus
  • Fork-Lift Certification required
  • Able to operate company inventory equipment (such as scan guns), required
  • Ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to provide support to department managers to achieve goals
  • Able to maintain an environment that drives performance and a safe workplace

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds
  • Work up to a 10-hour workday: standing/walking most of the day
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, weekends when needed
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives
