Position Summary
Projects Inc. is a precision manufacturer of complex machined components for the Aerospace and Power Generation industries. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for shipping, receiving, material handling, and transportation activities. This position ensures that products, materials, certifications, and related documentation are accurately processed, protected, identified, and transported in compliance with customer requirements, company procedures, and AS9100 standards. The successful candidate will split time between local deliveries and shipping and receiving duties based on business needs.
Essential Responsibilities:
Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Responsible for processing incoming and outgoing materials while maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory, and AS9100 requirements.
Shipping Responsibilities
  • Review customer-specific packaging, labeling, and shipping requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare products for shipment using approved packaging methods that prevent damage and preserve product quality.
  • Verify shipping documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Prepare and process domestic and international shipments utilizing carriers including UPS, FedEx, DHL, and other freight providers.
  • Generate shipping paperwork including commercial invoices, certificates, bills of lading, export documentation, and other customer-specific documents.
  • Prepare and submit Automated Export System (AES) filings when required.
  • Process customer shipping requests through various customer portals and transportation management systems.
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, revisions, certifications, and customer requirements prior to shipment.
  • Maintain lot control and product traceability throughout the shipping process.
  • Prepare skids, pallets, crates, and specialized packaging for freight shipments.
  • Ensure all required certifications and quality records accompany shipments.

Receiving Responsibilities
  • Verify incoming materials, products, and documentation against purchase orders and receiving requirements.
  • Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, visible damage, and proper certification documentation.
  • Maintain traceability by verifying material certifications, test reports, and other quality records.
  • Process receipts accurately within the ERP/business management system.
  • Deliver materials and documentation to the appropriate departments and personnel.
  • Coordinate movement of materials to support production schedules and operational requirements.
  • Identify and report discrepancies, damaged materials, missing documentation, or nonconforming product.
  • Segregate and properly identify nonconforming material in accordance with company procedures.

Inventory and Material Control
  • Assist with the monitoring and replenishment of shipping and packaging supplies.
  • Support inventory accuracy through proper transactions, identification, and storage practices.
  • Maintain organized storage areas to facilitate efficient material flow and product control.
  • Perform cycle count and inventory support activities as assigned.

Delivery Driver
Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of materials, products, and documentation between company, customer, supplier, and subcontractor locations throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
Responsibilities
  • Operate company-owned or leased vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
  • Transport products, raw materials, tooling, and documentation between company facilities, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Perform and document pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Verify shipments against packing slips, work orders, purchase orders, and delivery documentation before transport.
  • Ensure products are properly packaged, protected, secured, and identified during transport.
  • Load and unload materials safely while preventing product damage and maintaining product integrity.
  • Obtain required signatures and maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups.
  • Follow all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations applicable to vehicle operation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer products, documents, and proprietary information.
  • Ensure chain-of-custody and product traceability are maintained during transportation activities.
  • Support expedited deliveries and customer-required emergency shipments as needed.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, regulated manufacturing, or AS9100 environment preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of computer experience, including ERP or business management systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately process shipping documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AS9100 quality systems.
  • Experience with domestic and international shipping procedures.
  • Familiarity with export compliance documentation and AES filings.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
