Job description

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Ballpark Operations, the Coordinator, Loading Dock facilitates all shipments and deliveries to be received inside of Nationals Park. The incumbent suggests improvements to distribution procedures, and acts to improve timeliness and accountability. Responsibilities also include the tracking of all items into and out of Loading Dock area; and as necessary, complete all proper documentation for management in compliance with company policies and procedures. The Coordinator, Loading Dock must be able to implement directives from upper management and can provide logistical support to the Ballpark Operations Department.
The Nationals are a military-friendly organization actively recruiting veterans and spouses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Shipping and Receiving (Mailroom duties are on Saturdays during Baseball Games)
  • Responsible for the creation of packing slips for shipments based on specific delivery or shipment requirements.

  • Responsible for the creation of bar code labels using UPS and other specific programs.

  • Receives and documents incoming merchandise, promotional items, and regular mail.

  • Prepares receiving or shipping reports and notes any shortages or damages.

  • Records all UPS, DHL or FedEx incoming or outgoing packages for all clubhouse personnel under MLB mandated policy.

  • May perform receiving, stocking, distributing, and packing in addition to inventory control.

Inventory Control
  • Counts items received or shipped and check them against delivery or shipping packing lists; also responsible for recording any discrepancies.

  • Provide proper control of inventory for propane used on ballpark equipment.

  • Oversee incoming and outgoing merchandise/promotional items/quantities as well as preparation of shipment, etc. Loading and unloading of the materials to the proper storage areas for distribution as needed for events, etc.

  • Record all Freight packages, incoming or outgoing, for Clubhouse Personnel complying with MLB policy.

  • May be utilized for distribution or moving heavy items throughout the ballpark.

Loading Dock Maintenance
  • Responsible for the loading docks and maintain all receiving, storing, and processing of items and the filing/shipment of packages. This includes inspection of all trucks that enter the facility on a daily basis. To include checking of drivers' identification or issued credentials.

  • Responsible for cleanliness of the loading dock areas as well as the broadcast truck areas.

  • Check to ensure that all equipment in the loading dock is functioning properly on a daily basis (overhead door, barriers/barricades and lift gates)

  • Oversee empty pallet removal

  • Assist with scheduling LSI pick-ups (trash compactors inside loading dock)

  • Handle all recyclable items (cardboard) from the loading dock via Encore Recycling per LSI

  • Order open top dumpsters for ballpark and special events use

  • Facilitate Levy warehouse deliveries and ensure their area remains clean

  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:
The projected wage rate for this position is $18.40 - $25.00 per hour. Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant's: qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements. Starting salaries for new employees are frequently not at the top of the applicable salary range.
