What is the difference between a Realtor and a real estate agent?

Many people think a realtor and a real estate agent are synonymous, but there are a few differences. In addition to being a real estate agent, a realtor can also be a broker-associate, a buyer’s agent, or a managing broker. Despite the few differences, all realtors must agree to the official realtor Code of Ethics which includes 17 articles that detail the duties of a realtor. Realtors pledge to put the interests of their clients first, never misrepresent a property, and cooperate closely with other realtors, amongst other commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a real estate agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Real Estate Agent, you need strong knowledge of property markets, sales techniques, and local real estate regulations, typically backed by a valid state license. Familiarity with MLS databases, CRM software, and digital marketing platforms is crucial for managing listings and client relationships. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and networking skills help build trust with clients and close deals effectively. These skills and qualifications are vital for ensuring legal compliance, maximizing sales opportunities, and delivering excellent client service in a competitive industry.

What is a real estate agent?

Real estate agents are licensed professionals who help clients buy, sell, and rent properties, including homes, land, and commercial buildings. Real estate agents also provide market insights, help with paperwork, and ensure that all legal requirements are met. Their goal is to make property transactions smooth and successful for all parties involved.

What are some common challenges faced by real estate agents during the home buying or selling process?

Job description

Description
Real Estate Agent Scholarship - Get Licensed. Get Started. We'll Pay.
Launch Your Full-Time Real Estate Career with Obvious Real Estate.
We will pay for your license. You bring the drive, the discipline, and the commitment to go all in.
Have you been thinking about a career in real estate but have not made the move yet? Obvious Real Estate is ready to invest in the right person. Through the Obvious Scholarship Program, we cover the cost of your real estate license - but only for the candidates who earn it. You do not need your license to apply. If you are selected, we pay for it and help you get it. This is a full-time opportunity only. If you are looking for a side hustle or a part-time gig, this is not the right fit. We are looking for people who are ready to go all in on a real career.
Why Obvious Real Estate?
We Invest in You
Through the Obvious Scholarship Program, we cover up to $1,000 in real estate licensing costs so you can launch your career without the financial barrier. No excuses. Just opportunity for the people who earn it.
Learn From the Best
  • You will be mentored directly by top-producing agents who know what it takes to win in today's market. Real strategies, real guidance, and real results from people who are doing it right now.

Clients From Day One
  • We generate high-quality leads so you can hit the ground running. Instead of spending your first year wondering where business will come from, you will focus on serving clients and building your reputation.

Built for Growth
  • Obvious Real Estate is not just a team. It is a collective built to push you forward, challenge you, and surround you with people who want to see you succeed. Around here, growth is not optional. It is obvious.

How It Works
Attend two evening classes on August 24th and 25th from 5 to 7 PM. We pull back the curtain on what a full-time real estate career actually looks like, what it takes to succeed, and what we invest in the people we select. After the classes, candidates moving forward will complete a final one-on-one interview by the end of the week, available in person or via Zoom. Then we make our decision on who receives the scholarship.
Spots are limited, and not everyone will be selected.
This Is Not For You If:
You are looking for a part-time opportunity, a backup plan, or something to do on the side. We only invest in people who are ready to go full time and fully committed.
Your Move
This is your chance to launch a full-time career with a team that invests in the people who earn it. Spots are limited, and the next class is August 24th and 25th.
Responsibilities
• Obtain your real estate license after being selected for the program (we cover the cost)
• Commit to real estate as a full-time career, not a side job or backup plan
• Show up to classes, training, coaching sessions, and meetings with full engagement and preparation
• Prospect daily through outbound calls, follow-up, and lead generation activity
• Build and maintain relationships with clients from first contact through closing
• Represent yourself and Obvious Real Estate with professionalism, integrity, and accountability
• Be coachable, take direction, apply feedback, and continue improving every week
• Be present and active in the office Monday through Friday
Qualifications
• Full time commitment only - this is a career, not a side hustle
• Hungry, coachable, and willing to do what it takes to build something real
• No real estate license required to apply - you must be willing to obtain one after being selected
• Disciplined enough to show up consistently, follow a process, and trust the system
• Strong communicator who can build relationships, handle rejection, and keep moving forward
• Self-motivated with the drive to prospect, follow up, and generate business daily
• Aligned with a team culture built on accountability, professionalism, and growth
