What is real estate relocation?

Real estate relocation refers to the process of helping individuals, families, or employees move from one location to another, often for work or personal reasons. Real estate agents specializing in relocation assist with buying, selling, or renting properties in the new area, as well as providing guidance on neighborhoods, schools, and local amenities. They often coordinate with moving companies and offer support throughout the transition to ensure a smooth move. Relocation services can be provided for both domestic and international moves, and are commonly used by companies transferring employees to new locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a real estate relocation specialist?

To thrive as a Real Estate Relocation Specialist, you need strong knowledge of real estate practices, local markets, and relocation procedures, often supported by a real estate license. Familiarity with client management systems (CRMs), relocation management software, and industry certifications like Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) are valuable. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills help manage client transitions smoothly and build trust. These skills ensure clients experience a seamless move, fostering satisfaction and repeat business in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in real estate relocation, and how can they be managed effectively?

Professionals in real estate relocation often encounter challenges such as navigating tight moving timelines, coordinating between multiple stakeholders, and managing client expectations during stressful transitions. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are key to overcoming these hurdles. Building a reliable network of service providers and staying updated on market trends also help ensure smooth relocations and client satisfaction. Collaborating closely with HR departments, moving companies, and realtors is essential for managing complex cases efficiently.

While both roles involve real estate expertise, Real Estate Relocation specialists focus on assisting clients with moving to new locations, often working with corporate clients. Real Estate Agents primarily handle property sales and purchases for individual clients. The key difference lies in their target clients and the scope of services offered.

How do you become a real estate relocation specialist?

To become a real estate relocation specialist, individuals typically need real estate licensing, which involves completing pre-licensing courses and passing a state exam. Gaining experience in real estate sales or property management and developing strong knowledge of local markets and client needs are also important for success in this role.

Real Estate Project Manager

American Transmission Company

De Pere, WI โ€ข On-site, Remote

$89K - $104K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Life, Retirement

Posted 15 days ago

Job description

Summary of Responsibilities:

At American Transmission Company (ATC), the work we do connects communities, supports economic growth, and helps ensure reliable electric transmission service across our region. Behind every transmission project is a team of professionals who secure the property rights, stakeholder partnerships, and agreements needed to bring critical infrastructure projects to life.
We're looking for a Real Estate Project Manager who is passionate about building relationships, navigating complex projects, and working at the intersection of real estate, infrastructure, and community engagement.
ATC embraces flexibility in our work and our workplace. We trust our employees to get work done where and when it makes sense, depending on the schedule for the day and the needs of the business. However, this role is not 100% remote and would require relocation to Wisconsin.

Essential Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

As a Real Estate Project Manager, you'll oversee projects involving the acquisition, management, leasing, and disposal of property rights and real estate interests needed to support ATC's transmission system and business objectives.

Lead Real Estate Projects

  • Develop and manage project plans from initiation through completion
  • Coordinate activities across multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor schedules, budgets, deliverables, risks, and project performance
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and compliantly

Secure Property Rights & Agreements

  • Manage easements, permits, licenses, leases, agreements, and other real estate interests
  • Support ownership research, title review, encumbrance analysis, and transaction activities
  • Coordinate approvals and documentation required to advance infrastructure projects

Negotiate & Build Relationships

  • Work directly with landowners, municipalities, government agencies, contractors, and business partners
  • Facilitate productive conversations and negotiate practical solutions
  • Address questions related to property rights, easements, construction impacts, and project requirements

Represent ATC in the Community

  • Participate in public information meetings, hearings, zoning discussions, and permitting processes
  • Serve as a professional representative of ATC in stakeholder interactions
  • Communicate complex information in a clear and approachable manner

Ensure Compliance & Accountability

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records
  • Support corporate, regulatory, legal, and company compliance requirements
  • Manage contractor agreements and review contract performance and invoices

What You'll Bring

We recognize that great candidates come from many different backgrounds. You may be a strong fit if you have experience in:

  • Real estate acquisition or management
  • Right-of-way services
  • Utilities, energy, construction, transportation, or infrastructure projects
  • Land use planning, zoning, permitting, or municipal coordination
  • Project management and stakeholder engagement
  • Property services, title, appraisal, or surveying
  • Contract administration or business operations
  • Customer-facing roles requiring negotiation and relationship management

Education

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Real Estate, Business, Management, Land Use Planning, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Why ATC?

This is more than a traditional real estate role. You'll play a direct role in advancing infrastructure projects that strengthen the energy grid, support local communities, and help prepare the region for future energy needs.

  • Lead impactful real estate projects that directly support critical energy infrastructure
  • Collaborate with engineers, attorneys, project managers, construction teams, government agencies, and community stakeholders
  • Build trusted relationships with landowners and local officials
  • Influence project outcomes through negotiation, communication, and strategic problem-solving
  • Grow your expertise in real estate, right-of-way, permitting, land acquisition, leasing, stakeholder engagement, and infrastructure development
  • Join an organization committed to safety, integrity, collaboration, and service

If you're looking for an opportunity where you can combine project management, relationship building, real estate expertise, and community engagement while helping deliver infrastructure projects that matter, we want you to join our Great Place to Work!

The targeted base pay for this position is $89,500 to $104,400 annually.* Base pay is one component of our comprehensive total rewards package which includes an annual incentive bonus, employer-sponsored pension plan, 401(k) match, HSA contribution, life & disability insurance, health care benefits, generous time off plans, flexible work arrangements, and much more.

*The pay range is a general guideline. Employment offers are evaluated individually and consider qualifications, experience, academic achievements, internal equity, and business needs. Pay exceeding the posted range is considered for uniquely qualified candidates. Interested internal candidates, with questions, please consult your Human Resources Business Partner.
