Our Law Firm is currently looking to fill the role of Real Estate Paralegal. We are a small boutique firm looking for an on site real estate paralegal who can perform all aspects of a real estate transaction including commercial and residential purchases, sales, and refinances. You will be reporting to the company’s owners, processing all transactions involving non-foreclosure real estate sales, including REOs and residential short sales. Hourly pay is dependent upon experience, but please be advised our office's max pay is 16.00 - 25.00 an hour and is based on experience with real estate transactions, please include your salary requirement in your cover letter.
Essential Functions
You should have experience in the following areas:
1. Organizing and assisting with real estate closings, including the performance of all the necessary follow-up. We are looking for someone who has the knowledge and ability to open files and prepare contacts and have attorney review letters prepared.
2. Ability to review purchase contracts and prepare closing checklists; You will be responsible for requesting back title, asking for oil tank documents if necessary and follow up for all necessary closing certifications.
3. You may be required to contact condo associations for bylaws, rules and regulations (if any) budget, financial report and any assessments or pending lawsuits against condo association.
3. Excellent organizational, writing and proofreading skills; ability to track and meet deadlines; You will be drafting and sending approved retainers, following up for necessary deposits, and ensuring that all closing timelines are met.
4. Drafting documents such as Deeds, Affidavits, and Residency Certifications and settlement statements;
5. Analyzing title reports, surveys, zoning certificates and other due diligence documents for loans secured by real estate;
A typical day may include:
· Send retainer letter and questionnaire
· Request deposit money
· Review and respond to buyers attorney regarding home inspection issues
· Follow up for mortgage commitment
· Review title and prepare closing documents.
· Order final utilities and payoffs
· Prepare file for closing for attorney
· If file is a short sale follow up for approval and send to buyers attorney upon receipt.
This position is responsible for monitoring files from beginning to end, including conducting time-sensitive communications with clients, attorneys, realtors, title agencies, lenders, etc.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with the use of case management systems is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paralegal or other legal field
- Familiarity with real estate in the state of New Jersey
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Deadline and detail-oriented
