Position Summary:
The Accountant, Real Estate Development supports full-cycle accounting across a portfolio of real estate development entities and operating real estate investments, with exposure to multi-entity consolidations, GAAP reporting, and intercompany/related-party transactions. This role works closely with the Controller and reports into the broader accounting team, gaining hands-on experience with special-purpose entities while building toward greater ownership of the close and reporting process.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain day-to-day accounting for assigned real estate development entities and operating real estate investments, including entities within a joint venture or SPE structure
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including standard elimination entries for intercompany transactions, under the review of the Controller
  • Support accounting for real estate-specific transactions under ASC 360 (Property, Plant & Equipment) and ASC 842 (Leases), including capitalization of development costs and lease classification
  • Perform month-end close tasks for assigned entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Assist in preparation of year-end tax financial statements, helping coordinate information requests from external tax preparers
  • Manage intercompany and related-party billing tasks, ensuring proper documentation for shared services, management fees, and cost allocations
  • Issue invoice payments and help monitor cash positions across the entity structure
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and data summaries for management as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate recurring reports and close-related processes
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
  • 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful exposure to real estate development and construction
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across accounting, construction, asset management, and investment teams
  • CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure a plus, not required
  • Experience or interest in utilizing AI tools
