Job description

Job Summary

The Purification Supervisor is responsible for managing all essential functions related to antibody purification. Candidate must have extensive knowledge of all purification processes and be capable of extensive trouble shooting. Must be able to train new employees on all purification processes, as well as ISO standards and company policies. Must be able to collaborate with other departments and create assignments, reports, and other data. Must be able to manage, coach, and develop a large department.

Essential Functions

  • High Level understanding of IGG and IGM antibody protein structure and purification methods, antibody fragmentation, and antibody rework methods
  • Perform basic math calculations to calculate amount of antibodies
  • Prepare Buffers according to SOPs
  • Review SDS and IEF Gel electrophoresis
  • Expert with ERP system for management and manufacturing purposes
  • Expert in bulk order preparation
  • Train new employees on all purification processes
  • Extensive knowledge with troubleshooting issues in purification processes. Prepare data for weekly meetings. Responsible for opening and closing Non-conforming reports
  • Employee performance reviews and coaching and development
  • Recruiting new employeesโ€”resume review, interviews, selection
  • Create and edit SOPs and batch records
  • Ensure that department operates under ISO guidelinesโ€”train and enforce standards. Work with QA department to be trained and have complete understanding of ISO guidelines
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments
  • Create weekly and monthly tasks to give to employees, as well as monthly reports to the manager
  • In charge of incoming raw materials from outside vendorsโ€”collaborate with Receiving Department to properly receive and manage OEM materialย 

Minimum Qualifications โ€“ Education and Experience

  • BS degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Science
  • 4-5 years relevant lab experience with column chromatography, gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE, IEF gel) or knowledge of other analytical or detection methods. Supervisory experience preferredย 

Preferred Qualifications โ€“ Education and Experienceย 

  • Strong organizational, documentation, and interpersonal skills are essential. Must take initiative, be flexible, highly motivated, and dependable.ย  Good computer skills are a plus. Must be extremely detail-oriented. Great time management and multi-tasking skills
