Do you have a passion for reading? Come and volunteer with SitStayRead as a Book Buddy!

As a Book Buddy volunteer, you will work with a small group of students on different reading and writing activities. No previous classroom or reading experience is needed! We are recruiting for our programs, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade.

SitStayRead is a non-profit that uses an engaging curriculum to advance children's literacy skills through our trained literacy volunteers and Certified Reading Assistance Dogs. We help Kindergarten through 1st Grade students on the South and West sides of Chicago.

  1. We offer in-person volunteer opportunities for at least 1.5 hours per week, over six consecutive weeks (with flexible session attendance), where volunteers work with students and staff between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. We'll also have afterschool family events and weekend opportunities in Chicago Public Libraries!
