JOB SUMMARY

For this position, we are looking for a consultant/contractor to work as a part of our project-based flexible team. Hours are based on customer need and ideally looking for someone who can start a project quickly and be available as needed. There is always the opportunity to be hired full time as we grow.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time.

Enabled Energy is seeking an experienced Project Developer to develop energy efficiency and infrastructure retrofit projects within existing data centers.

We are looking for someone with a background in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or general engineer who is ready to own projects end to end starting with the initial site assessment through proposal delivery.

The engineer will evaluate existing conditions, identify and validate opportunities, develop scopes of work, calculate energy savings, and lead the development of client-facing proposals.

This role offers significant ownership of both fieldwork and analytical project development in active data center environments, along with direct client interaction and input into how the team's technical processes are run.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Site Audits and Field Assessments
  • Conduct audits and jobsite walks of operational data centers
  • Collect equipment nameplate data, field measurements, and operating conditions, and review findings for accuracy and completeness
  • Document existing systems through detailed notes, photographs, and sketches, and ensure documentation meets internal quality standards
  • Travel required (up to 30% of the time)
Engineering and Energy Analysis
  • Independently perform and validate energy savings calculations
  • Evaluate and prioritize potential project opportunities
  • Analyze BAS trend logs and operational data to support engineering conclusions
  • Develop and refine technical assumptions and calculation methodologies, and help standardize them across the team
Cost Estimating and Financial Support
  • Own preparation of preliminary and detailed cost estimates
  • Solicit, vet, and compile vendor quotations and subcontractor pricing
  • Lead development of payback, ROI, and lifecycle cost analyses
Proposal Development
  • Author technical narratives and scopes of work for client proposals
  • Develop exhibits, diagrams, and supporting documentation
  • Translate engineering findings into clear, client-ready summaries and present them directly to clients
  • Lead proof-of-concept documentation and pilot project reporting
Team and Client Leadership
  • Serve as a day-to-day client point of contact for assigned projects
  • Contribute to process improvements for site audits, estimating, and proposal development
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or general engineering
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, or energy engineering
  • Demonstrated experience conducting job site visits or field assessments with minimal supervision
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial and engineering modeling
  • Ability to work independently in active mechanical and electrical environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including direct client presentation experience
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with building automation or controls systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with progress toward PE
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar industry certification
  • Prior experience in mission-critical facilities or data center infrastructure projects
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

This role is structured as a core technical position within the project development team, with a clear path toward project leadership and management responsibility. High-performing individuals will have the opportunity to advance into roles with broader oversight of project teams, client accounts, and business development.
