Job description


The Therapist has the primary responsibility for the assessment, planning and implementation of the treatment for clients in the Residential Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program. The Therapist provides both direct services and mobilizes the resources of the total treatment milieu. This includes, but is not limited to, 1) screening and assessment, 2) individual, collateral, group, and family therapy, 3) treatment plan development and reviews, 4) timely documentation, 5) obtaining authorization for services, and 6) discharge planning and referrals.
Organizational duties & responsibilities:
  • The primary responsibility of all staff is to ensure safety and well-being of all Ramey-Estep (RE) / Re-group clients.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of RE and Re-group. Facilitates and adheres to the agency and licensure code of ethics, policies and procedures.
  • Supports all functions that attain and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Supports and facilitates positive interaction with clients and staff by exhibiting both in office and in the public when carrying out job duties: individual maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an awareness and sensitivity to cultural and other differences in youth and staff.
  • Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems.
  • Participates in appropriate professional development programs to attain and maintain competency.
  • Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission of RE and Re-group.
  • Reports incidents of abuse or potential abuse involving clients to the appropriate authorities and RE/ Re-group.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts and documents thorough diagnostic assessment for determination of level of care and medical necessity and provides recommendations within the appropriate time-frame.
  • Directs the planning, writing and timely updates of the client's care plan.
  • Administers initial Drug and Alcohol assessments and re-administers assessments to record progress.
  • Prepares appropriate materials for all Groups and Individual/Family Sessions based on the model guidelines and conducts each session on time and for the prescribed amounts of time per model and medical necessity.
  • Ensure each client has completed all necessary components of the treatment program through maintaining documentation of each client's attendance in Groups as well as Individual and Family sessions.
  • Is responsible for storage of treatment materials for each client, to ensure confidentiality.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of treatment services for their clients.
  • Promotes a positive view of RE and Re-group to the public and outside agencies.
  • Provides individual, group, and family treatment, as appropriate, to client based on clinical issues and treatment needs.
  • Attends program specific treatment team meetings for all clients, as appropriate, for clients in the Residential SUD Program.
  • Maintains current therapy notes, treatment reports, and other written documentation and correspondence according to agency policy and within appropriate time frames.
  • Attends all therapist meetings and assists in developing appropriate intervention techniques.
  • Maintains current licensure and stays within ethical guidelines provided by your licensure board.
  • Participates in supervision and consultation on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates effectively with other assigned Re-group services and community partners.
  • Meets minimum requirements for billable time on a consistent basis based on case load.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in schedules and work environment.
  • Provides consistent, quality treatment to all clients on their caseload.
  • Ensures all necessary records are maintained and kept confidential.
  • Ensures entries in all treatment plans and narrative reports to MCO's are done in a professional, concise manner and will be submitted as needed to maintain current authorization for services.
  • Participates in "on call" schedule when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working conditions/environment:
  • Shift is generally Monday - Friday but hours will vary based on the needs of the client.
  • Holidays, weekends, and extra hours may be required.
  • Meals are provided for staff when on campus.
  • Intense, unpredictable population with possibility of verbal and physical aggression.
  • Fast-paced environment with need for quick decisions to deal with any crisis that may arise.
  • Primary work setting is in office but also can take place in the community including client home, especially for on-call work.
  • Maintains a positive, professional attitude contributing to a supportive work environment.

Minimum job requirements:
Education: Master's degree from an accredited university in a clinical field, i.e. social work, counseling, psychology, CADC, etc.
  • Licensed or license eligible required

_ Experience: _
  • Experience in substance use treatment programs preferred
  • Specific Skills and Requirements: *
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Technical requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and any other applications used by the organization or regulatory agencies.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurability.
  • Ability to understand and relate to the needs of clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
  • Successful completion of a TB skin test or proof of a negative chest x-ray or other documentation.

_ Specialized Licenses or training: _
  • Maintains 40 hours of Annual Training through employer employer-provided online training system or other appropriate sources
  • Maintains at least minimum training for licensure
  • Maintains at least 20 hours per year of substance abuse related training per AODE regulations
  • Attends all assigned training specific to job assignment
