Physical Therapist, PT (School-based)
Compensation Range: $62-67/hour
Location: Westland, MI; Onsite - School Setting
Position Summary
School-based physical therapists help students improve mobility and physical function so they can fully participate in the classroom and throughout the school environment. As related service providers under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), they collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement therapy goals that support each student's access to and success in the general education curriculum. Responsibilities
Schedule / Shift:
  • Shift details: School Day Schedule
  • Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract length: 12 weeks
Key Duties
  • Interpret physician orders related to professional area of responsibility
  • Assess gross motor skills and therapeutic equipment needs of students
  • Develop, implement, monitor and modify treatment plans based on physician orders and assessment of student as appropriate
  • Complete IEP, MET, Medicaid and treatment forms/reports
  • Maintain treatment/progress notes and Medicaid documentation per professional standards
  • Train Paraprofessionals on various student plans
  • Regular and predictable attendance

โ€ข Pediatric experience preferred

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position and is frequently required to move about the inside of the building. This employee will be required to assist in transferring students from one location to another, e.g., from a wheelchair to a mat table, which may require lifting up to 50 pounds and/or pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds. The person in this position frequently communicates with teachers, parents and students, including reading to students, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee must be able to engage in the physical management of students in order to maintain a safe environment for students and others
