Job description

OH Injection Quality Operator

Position Type Full Time Travel Percentage None Category Manufacturing

Description

TITLE: Injection Quality Operator REPORTS TO: Team Leader

The Injection Quality Operator owns day-to-day quality across the injection process at the assigned facility. Reporting to the Team Leader, the position runs routine and random product checks, keeps the injection quality log, and, where the plant ships product in bagged bins, handles bag folding and bin inspection at the 3-position conveyor. It pulls quality work that injection operators otherwise split between their machines and the shipping dock into one dedicated position per shift, which keeps operators on their machines and their standard checks. Random preform inspections, part weights, and other standard-method checks cover all injection products. Bag folding and bag inspection apply only where product ships in bagged bins, so the role scales to plants that run bagged product and to those that do not. The position carries out the quality plan set by the Quality Manager, is cross-trained to operate injection and specialty machines such as PVS and 1-Blow machines so it can cover breaks and backfill when needed, and acts as a floating quality and relief resource across injection.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • At plants that ship product in bagged bins, take over bag folding and bin inspection at the 3-position conveyor.
  • Inspect bagged bins at the 3-position conveyor, cleaning the lid and checking the bag for dust, contamination, and defects to a consistent, repeatable standard before the bin is closed out.
  • Run routine and random quality checks across all injection products, including random preform inspections, part weights, ash testing, and other standard-method checks.
  • Keep the injection quality log current, recording checks performed, results, and any deviations, and escalate out-of-spec conditions.
  • Carry out the quality plan set by the Quality Manager, completing scheduled checks on time and escalating deviations.
  • Watch the 3-position conveyors and bin flow to head off the shutdown-to-auto-scrap cycle caused by unchecked bins backing up, and escalate equipment or material-flow issues promptly.
  • Cover as a cross-trained operator on injection and specialty machines, such as PVS and 1-Blow machines where present, running operator breaks and backfilling as needed while holding quality standards.
  • Act as a floating quality and relief resource across injection, backing up operators
  • Flag quality trends, recurring defects, and process-improvement ideas to the Team Leader and Quality Manager.
  • Follow all safety, food safety, GMP, and housekeeping standards in the injection and other plant areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior manufacturing experience, preferably in injection/preform, blow molding, plastics, or packaging.
  • Experience running injection machines strongly preferred, or clear aptitude and willingness to be cross-trained into an operator role.
  • Working knowledge of, or clear aptitude to learn, standard quality checks such as preform inspections, part weights, and ash testing.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to perform consistent, repeatable inspections to customer specifications.
  • Ability to work independently across a full shift with minimal supervision while juggling competing priorities such as bag and bin handling against operator break coverage.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills for recording quality data and keeping quality logs.
  • Ability to lift and handle bins, bags, and lids and to stand and walk for the length of a shift.
  • Willingness to work assigned shift schedules, including rotating or off-shift coverage across a multi-shift injection operation.

Physical Demands include the following; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Lift Frequent Walk Constant

Carry Frequent Bend/Squat Constant

Push/Pull Occasional Reach/Handle Constant

Sit Occasional Climb Occasional
