Job description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Hodgkins, IL  

You will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

MONDAY - FRIDAY 7AM - 3:30PM SHIFT

NEED EXPERIENCED TECHNICIAN REQUIRING LIMITED GUIDENCE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING & REPAIRS

OEM EXPERIENCES , CHASSI , HVAC , AND POWER TRAIN TRAINING PREFERRED
MINIMUM DIAGNOSTICS 5YRS

-A current valid license is required for this role
-This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
-This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
-3 years driving experience
-This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

-This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

-A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
-Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs
  • Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
  • Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
  • Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
  • Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation

Compensation and Benefits: Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
