Job description

Description
POSITIONS FUNCTION/PURPOSE:
To assist district in maintaining schools and facilities by providing effective and efficient cleaning and custodial support services. Follow routine cleaning procedures as set by the Custodial Services Department to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building and grounds operations.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
  • Follow directed cleaning schedule, as provided by Lead Custodian, including but not limited to general cleaning and/or dusting of all walls, whiteboards, glass, furniture, equipment, restrooms; disinfecting of all hand touch surfaces; vacuuming/cleaning of floors and carpeting
  • Keep school/building and grounds, including entryways, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas neat and clean and free of trash and debris
  • Secure assigned area at the end of work shift including locking windows, secure and lock all doors, and turning off lights. Responsible for setting appropriate alarms and turn in key to designated person
  • Removal and disposal of trash in the cafeteria every 30-45 minutes during lunch serving times, or as needed
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed from Lead
  • Advise Lead when school or building requires a work order for a specific area/location
  • Perform daily cleaning on all custodial equipment. Operate all equipment according to established safety procedures
  • Comply with the Texas Hazardous Communications Act which includes emphasizing safety, storing, handling, labeling, and application of all chemicals
  • Wear appropriate custodial uniform and District issued ID badge to work daily
  • Regular attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
  • Work shift flexibility upon reasonable notification
  • Maintain good public relations and communications with coworkers, Principals, Department Heads, and other supervisors
  • Ability to demonstrate the following core 4 values: Fast, Friendly, Focused, Flexible
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend documentation such as safety procedures, operating maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate cleaning equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to lift or exert force of up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or exert force up to 100 pounds
  • Demonstrated skill in cleaning methods and procedure, disinfecting, safety, security and building maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability of proper usage for all cleaning supplies
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Subject to Dallas ISD random drug test
