Job description

Job purpose
The primary responsibilities are to setup and run Multi-Axis CNC Lathes with live tooling, CNC Mills all the while maintaining production efficiencies and part quality.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Setup, operate and debug CNC Lathes and Mill.
  • Make machine tool offsets as needed to maintain part quality.
  • Make minor program changes to NC code as needed.
  • Identifies signs of tool wear and then makes the appropriate process or tool change(s).
  • Reads process sheets and mechanical drawings with the understanding of GD&T.
  • Works on multiple machines and performs multiple tasks throughout the day.
  • Uses general measuring instruments such as; indicators, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gage blocks, rules, protractor and height gages.
  • Enters inspection data into a computer software program.
  • Performs basic machine maintenance such as changing fluids and filters.
  • Maintains a clean work environment and machine work area.
  • Follows company written policy and documented procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Technical Training Certificate
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience setting up and running CNC Lathes and Mills.
  • Technical Training College with the focus of study being CNC setups and operation or similar Apprentice training.
  • Ability to read blue prints and knowledge of GD&T a must.
  • An understanding of both the Metric and English measuring systems a must.
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Basic computer knowledge along with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and exotic materials/high temp. alloys.
  • Ability to write and edit NC programs with understanding of cutting parameters.
  • Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Mori Seiki, MAPPS-4, Mazak, Mazatrol, and Mastercam a plus.
  • Strong communication skills.

Working conditions
  • Generally working in production environment.
  • Required exposure to industrial oils, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
  • Requirement for some independent actions and/or decisions is expected.
  • Some repetitive motion required on occasion.

Physical requirements
  • Required daily: periodic lifting of materials and parts weighing up to 70 lbs (lifting device is available).
  • Required intermittent long periods sitting and standing.

1st shift $26.18 an hour
3rd shift $26.18 an hour plus 10% shift premium or an additional $2.62 an hour totaling $28.80 an hour
