We are currently looking for a Frog Fitter - Fabricator to join our team in Cheyenne, Wyoming.



PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Frog Fitter - Fabricator is responsible for assembling pieces, and welding railway components using a heavy machinery that emits high heat.


Task and Responsibilities:

  • Able to operate grinder, welder and power tools
  • Proficiently assemble assigned frogs in a timely manner
  • Able to finish grind, weld, fit and assemble steel, iron, and manganese track work related products as specified
  • Able to grind filler blocks, fit standard and mag-tip switch points and other miscellaneous track-work related products such as switch clip assemblies
  • Read and follow the production schedule
  • Safely operate jib and overhead cranes
  • Routine clean up work area
  • Able to work with little supervision
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements (e.g., education, experience, skills and desired competencies)

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Experience in welding and grinding operations is an asset.
  • Experience in Forklift and Crane operations is an asset.
  • Ability to read work orders and blueprints preferred.
  • Experience with measuring equipment preferred.
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.
  • Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.
  • Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively.
