About the Role
We're looking for a Shop Fitter that will play a critical role in ensuring that all structural steel components, stairs, and railings are accurately assembled and prepared for welding. This role requires precision in reading and interpreting shop drawings, laying out parts, and collaborating with welders to ensure assemblies meet specifications and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
  • Layout and Assembly
    • Read and interpret shop drawings to determine material requirements and assembly procedures.
    • Lay out and assemble structural steel, stairs, and railings according to specifications and engineering instructions.
    • Verify alignment, dimensions, and fit before assemblies move to welding.

  • Fabrication and Preparation
    • Use tools and equipment to measure, cut, bend, and form metal parts.
    • Prepare components for welding, ensuring accuracy and quality.
    • Address and correct deficiencies during layout or assembly.

  • Collaboration and Workflow Support
    • Work closely with welders and the shop foreman to coordinate schedules and priorities.
    • Support welding operations by delivering properly prepared and assembled components.

  • Quality and Safety
    • Conduct quality control checks to confirm assemblies meet required tolerances.
    • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment in compliance with company and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Shop Fitter with skills in reading shop drawings and assembling structural steel, stairs, and railings.
