Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Rail Vehicle Electrical Engineer - Software - to join our US Infrastructure sector in the Vehicle Electrical Engineering group at our Ambler, PA location.
Other possible locations are Brooklyn, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA.
Candidates must have 10 or more years of engineering experience in the software engineering, computer programming, software quality assurance, or related fields.
As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Support rail transit agencies in the procurement of rail vehicles and systems through establishing requirements, participating in technical design reviews, and supporting software quality assurance efforts.

      1. Develop technical specifications for software included in new and upgraded rail vehicle equipment and systems.
      2. Analyze and apply IEEE and EN software standards to rail transit procurements.
      3. Evaluate supplier proposals for compliance with specification system and software requirements.
      4. Provide cogent analysis based on specification requirements for software submittals.
      5. Conduct Software Quality Assurance Audits at supplier sites.
      6. Witness software and system-level equipment tests.

  • Lead a group of Vehicle Electrical Engineers in the following areas:

      1. Ensure cohesive reviews between engineers across multiple projects.
      2. Ensure latest software industry best practices are applied to all projects.
      3. Mentor and train engineers in latest software innovations, including the field of artificial-intelligence software coding tools.

You bring to the role:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering (specific industry experience and/or certifications will be considered in lieu of a BS/MS degree).
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in software engineering and software quality assurance.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical client personnel.
  • EIT/PE is desirable but not required.
  • The following skills/experience are a plus but not required:
    • Knowledge of rail transit industry, experience with rail vehicle procurements, broad understanding of rail transit vehicle electrical systems and interfaces.
    • Understanding of relevant EN Standards (i.e., EN 50128 and EN 50657), FRA regulations, and IEEE safety standards.
