Radiologist Income information

What is the difference between Radiologist Income vs Radiologic Technologist Income?

AspectRadiologist IncomeRadiologic Technologist Income
Required CredentialsMedical degree, residency, medical licenseAssociate's or Bachelor's in Radiologic Technology, certification
Work EnvironmentHospitals, clinics, private practices, often in diagnostic imagingHospitals, imaging centers, outpatient clinics
Employer & Industry UsageMedical industry, healthcare providersMedical imaging services, healthcare facilities
Income Range$300,000 - $500,000 annually$50,000 - $70,000 annually

Radiologists typically earn significantly higher incomes than radiologic technologists due to advanced medical training, specialized skills, and greater responsibilities in diagnosis and patient care. While radiologists focus on interpreting medical images and making diagnoses, radiologic technologists operate imaging equipment and assist in patient positioning. Both roles are essential in medical imaging but differ greatly in education requirements and earning potential.

How many years does it take to be a radiologist?

Becoming a radiologist typically requires about 13 to 15 years of education and training, including four years of undergraduate studies, four years of medical school, a one-year internship, and at least five years of residency in radiology. Additional fellowship training in subspecialties may extend this period. Licensing and board certification are also necessary steps in the process.

Is it hard to get hired as a radiologist?

Getting hired as a radiologist can be competitive due to the specialized training and certification required, including completing a medical degree, residency, and board certification. Strong diagnostic skills, experience with imaging technologies, and a good professional network can improve job prospects in this field.

Job description

Outpatient Neuroradiologist

The Department of Medical Imaging of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG) is accepting applications for a fellowship-trained, CAQ-certified full-time Neuroradiologist with expertise in diagnostic CT and MRI imaging of the Brain, Head/Neck, and Spine to join our team of 3 other outstanding Neuroradiologists. Most work shifts (80+%) are 100% outpatient neuroradiology, and a minority are XR and US (if comfortable). The Neuro division participates in several multidisciplinary clinical conferences and tumor boards. Our team collaborates closely with and participates in multidisciplinary conferences alongside CPMG neurologists, neurosurgeons, head and neck surgeons, and oncologists. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, compassionate, and has exemplary communication skills.

We are a dedicated and collegial group of 24 fellowship-trained radiologists across all subspecialties, as well as 6 part-time radiologists practicing in the beautiful and thriving Front Range of Colorado.

Come utilize your skills across a wide range of pathology in a Monday-Friday daytime outpatient setting, with minimal weekend daytime expectations (approximately 2-3 weekends per year, with opportunities to increase income through additional shifts, if desired). No overnight work with an almost entirely 8-5 work day. Once or twice a month, you would work a flex shift from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Excellent salary and benefits with the occasional opportunity to read from home.

Benefits

CPMG offers a Market-leading benefit package, which includes:

  • Medical and dental coverage
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Professional liability coverage (occurrence-based)
  • 401(k) and Defined Benefit Retirement Plan (Cash Balance)
  • Vacation, holidays, sick leave, and educational leave with funds
  • In-house CME opportunities
  • $150,000 Sign-On Bonus
  • Starting salary: $566,460.

CPMG is a physician-led group of over 1,100 doctors practicing medicine in a fully integrated system that prioritizes the patient, an ideal environment for our radiologists to forge lasting relationships with referring colleagues through day-to-day partnered care and interdisciplinary conferences.

Join CPMG in our search for a talented BC/BE Physician Radiology Neuroradiologist to enhance our team in this Hybrid offering at our Rock Creek Medical Office or Lone Tree Office locations. Enjoy the flexibility to choose your preferred work location as well as the opportunity to work remotely with a provided home workstation.
