United Radio’s headquarters are in Syracuse, NY with a secondary location in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Summary

Program radio units with the features and provide timely repair of customer owned equipment. Remote/Hybrid work is not available for this position. Hours are M-F 8:00am-5:00pm at our East Syracuse, NY Location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Program communications equipment and test for functionality using customer programming software.
  • Become familiar with the operation of special test equipment used to perform work assignments.
  • Program the specific parameters of any radio related to the system based on location of radio.
  • Understand the options and features that can be programmed on a radio
  • Create templates for subscriber programming in a system
  • Troubleshoot and repair 2-way radio equipment to component level.
  • Read and program synthesized radios via computer “on the bench" or "in the vehicle".
  • Test all functions of a repaired unit.
  • Complete all paperwork associated with work assignments.
  • Perform other technical duties as directed by supervisor to accommodate changing workloads.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Comply with United Radio's policies and procedures, and quality systems.
  • Performs related duties as requested.
  • Promote and adhere to United Radio’s Core Values

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or related military experience required. Associates degree, formal electronic training or prior experience preferred.
  • One to three years experience repairing electronic devices preferred

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of the basic features and options of two-way radios and the basic concepts of trunking is preferred.
  • Able to diagnose problem using manufacturer's schematics.
  • Proper and neat soldering and desoldering techniques preferred.
  • Sufficient electronics knowledge to thoroughly and professionally repair assigned types of equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Adapt to follow best practices appropriate to the work environment and customer needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Basic understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Prioritize duties and responsibilities appropriately.
  • Familiarity With Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Clean NYS Driver license (company vehicle provided for working hours).

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated hourly rate between $22.00-$25.00. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.
