Job description

Smokehouse Lead 

Location: Alma, KS

Shift: 1st Shift (6AM-2:30PM)

Position Summary:

The Smokehouse Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production equipment to ensure products meet quality, food safety, and production standards. This role includes monitoring processes, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating effectively with team members and supervisors. 

Responsibilities:
  • Operate production equipment according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Monitor cycles to ensure proper temperature, timing, and product quality.
  • Perform routine checks and make adjustments to maintain consistency.
  • Complete all required production and food safety documentation accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to maintain workflow.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines; maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Utilize AS400 terminals for data entry and production tracking.
Qualifications:
  • Dependable in fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Production equipment and Food processing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive team environment.
  • .The ability to read and write to accurately complete job-related paperwork
  • Lift/push/pull 50+lbs as required (Occasional)
  • Twist and bend the body as necessary to perform job related tasks.
  • Kneel/squat as necessary to complete job-related tasks.
  • Grasping & pinching motions to complete job-related tasks
  • Applicants must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer. 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Ability to manually move oven trucks and load into ovens/chillers.
  • Expectation to become HACCP certified in the smokehouse in the first 90 days.

  • Food/Meat manufacturing experience


Training

  • On the Job training provided


Work Environment

  • Position requires working in temperatures below 40F and above 80F.
  • Standing/walking on concrete for a majority of the work day

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $22.65 per hour, 1.5 times rate for hours worked over 40 in a week
