The Role
Are you a strategic business development professional with deep expertise in early-phase clinical development and a passion for helping innovative therapies reach patients faster?
Quotient Sciences is seeking a Business Development Director to drive growth within our Clinical Pharmacology business, with a particular focus on biologics. This is an opportunity to partner with leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies as they advance cutting-edge therapies through First-in-Human and early clinical development programs.
With dedicated Phase I clinical pharmacology units in Nottingham, UK and Miami, USA, Quotient Sciences has more than 30 years of experience delivering high-quality early-phase clinical research services. As a key member of our commercial team, you will leverage your industry knowledge, scientific understanding, and established network to develop strategic client partnerships and generate new business opportunities across the biologics sector.
This is a home-based role with flexibility on location for the right candidate and requires regular engagement with clients, industry events, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Generate new business opportunities and achieve revenue targets across early-phase clinical research and clinical pharmacology services.
  • Identify, develop, and secure high-value partnerships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations.
  • Lead the full sales cycle, from prospect identification and relationship development through proposal strategy, contract negotiation, and award.
  • Develop and execute territory growth plans aligned with market opportunities and business objectives.
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders including Clinical Development leaders, Chief Medical Officers, Outsourcing teams, and operational decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with scientific, operational, marketing, project management, and legal teams to develop tailored client solutions.
  • Position Quotient Sciences as a trusted partner for First-in-Human studies, Phase I clinical trials, and clinical pharmacology programs.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client engagement across the broader Quotient Sciences service portfolio.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting and opportunity management through Salesforce or equivalent CRM systems.
  • Monitor industry trends, market activity, and competitor developments to identify emerging commercial opportunities.
  • Represent Quotient Sciences at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings to strengthen brand awareness and generate leads.

Skills and Experience Required
Essential
  • Minimum of five years' business development experience within a Phase I Clinical Research Organisation (CRO) or Clinical Pharmacology CRO environment.
  • Proven success selling early-phase clinical development, Clinical Pharmacology, or First-in-Human services to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
  • Strong understanding of biologics development, including areas such as monoclonal antibodies, RNA therapeutics, and oligonucleotide-based therapies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and grow strategic client relationships that deliver commercial results.
  • Established network of contacts within biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations.
  • Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels, from scientific teams through to senior executives.
  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively across global teams.

Desirable
  • Experience selling services across broader drug development disciplines including bioanalysis, data sciences, or pharmaceutical development.
  • Existing relationships with organizations actively developing biologic therapies.
  • Experience working within a global CRO environment.
