The Role

At QuidelOrtho, we're advancing the power of diagnostics for a healthier future for all. Join our mission as our next Material Handler II. Under direct supervision, the Material Handler II is responsible for processing daily distribution tasks specific to loading, unloading, moving/transferring, and transacting materials to support in-plant logistics. Individual must be attentive to detail and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This position also requires the person to be able to accurately complete transactions and fulfill requests in timely manner for the receipt, delivery, and shipment of all goods. These functions include operating in a cGMP environment and adhering to strong inventory management procedures.

This role is scheduled for 2nd shift; M - F 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm PT. This role will be located onsite in Carlsbad, CA.

The Responsibilities:
  • Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies.

  • Perform physical counts of inventory.

  • Packs products for shipments.

  • Transports materials between departments, facilities, and/or production floor.

  • Transacts inventory/material movements in JDE system in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance to strong inventory control practices.

  • Selects and transacts materials for work orders and sales orders.

  • Follow the federal and international regulations regarding hazardous substance transportation.

  • Assures the accurate counting, staging and storage of materials and supplies.

  • Operates warehouse vehicles such as sit down, stand up and side-loader forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment in narrow aisles and cold storage facilities.

  • Follow all standard operation procedures and GMP guidelines.

  • Adhere to all safety training and instructions and have knowledge of materials and safety.

  • Participates in the effective training of other employees.

  • Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies.

  • Perform other duties & projects as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be forklift certified.

  • Trained in the safe usage of basic warehouse equipment such as but not limited to order pickers.

  • Computer skills to include Excel, Word, and transaction data entry.

  • Strong verbal communications and written skills.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Knowledge of cycle count procedures.

  • Hands-on experience shipping products via common freight carriers.

  • Hands-on experience supplying materials to production work orders.

  • Strong time management skills with an ability to multi-task.

  • Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of QuidelOrtho Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.

  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences and device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities.

  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Two to five years of related warehouse/stockroom environment utilizing material handling equipment and computerized inventory control system required. Previous experience in a GMP environment.

  • APICs certification or lean/continuous improvement experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment highly preferred.

Interacts maturely with all levels of employees. Facilitates team interaction and communicates with department team leaders and supervisor. Actively supports QuidelOrtho's team efforts. Interact in a team based work environment, participating in meetings, reviews, team huddles, and metric reviews.

The Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, and warehouseenvironment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals,as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues and samples. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

The Physical Demands:

Position requires ability to lift up to50 lbs.or more at least 35 % of the dayon a regular basis. Walking, standing, andclimbingfor long periods of time (up to50% of the day) are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.Must operatea forklift approximately 15% of the time.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $41,365.59 - $45,000 annually. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
