This role offers the unique opportunity to employ specialized mental health practices while working with a focus on trauma-informed care to facilitate healing and recovery for our clients.

About the Organization

Queer Self Care Mental Therapy Center is a pioneering facility based in Union City, California, committed to serving the LGBTQ+ community and allies. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and supportive environment tailored for trauma survivors. Our focus on mental health services encompasses treating conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our team is dedicated to fostering resilience and empowering clients on their healing journeys through a combination of evidence-based practices and personalized support.

Work Environment

This full-time position is entirely remote, allowing clinicians the flexibility to work from home while maintaining a professional telehealth practice. Our practice operates from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional adjustments in schedule to accommodate our clients' needs. As a trusted member of our virtual team, you will collaborate closely with other mental health professionals and have access to ongoing professional development resources.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist at Queer Self Care, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate clientsโ€™ trauma histories and develop suitable treatment plans.
  • Creating and implementing individualized therapy programs centered on healing from trauma and promoting resilience.
  • Utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to deliver effective therapeutic interventions.
  • Facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at processing trauma, enhancing coping skills, and supporting overall recovery.
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists and other healthcare practitioners to ensure coordinated, holistic care for clients.
  • Providing crisis intervention services to support clients in trauma-related emergencies.
  • Educating clients and their families about trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available healing resources.
  • Maintaining meticulous and confidential documentation aligned with legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Participating in case consultations, team meetings, and ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in trauma care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work primarily with clients who have experienced various forms of trauma, including those seeking recovery from PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Your contributions will significantly impact their paths to healing, enabling them to regain control over their lives and rebuild their sense of safety and connection.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A masterโ€™s or doctoral degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A valid state license as an LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or licensed psychologist.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and nonjudgmental approach.
  • The ability to remain composed and supportive in high-stress situations and to handle sensitive discussions with care.
  • Knowledge and experience in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and various computer applications for efficient client management.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is encouraged, we welcome applicants who can demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices and have experience in providing trauma-focused therapy. Familiarity with trauma-related disorders and resilience-building techniques will be highly regarded.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 90,000 to 105,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, our organization provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Comprehensive health care coverage.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage.
  • Support for continuing education and targeted professional development initiatives.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Queer Self Care Mental Therapy Center, we value your professional growth. There are clear pathways for advancement within our trauma-informed practice, allowing you to take on leadership roles, mentor junior therapists, and engage in specialized training to expand your expertise.

Why Join Our Team
