Job Title: Queens Manhattan Float PhlebotomistJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced phlebotomist with at least two years of recent experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. This position requires strong communication skills and reliability, as well as the ability to commute to various locations in Queens and Manhattan.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
- Decontaminate workspaces and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
- Accurately label and prepare specimens following protocols for transportation to maintain specimen integrity.
Essential Skills- Minimum of 2 years' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with straight needles and phlebotomy techniques.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Strong communication skills and reliability.
- Ability to commute to Manhattan and Queens.
Work EnvironmentThis is a float position covering various patient service centers (PSCs) in Queens and Manhattan. The phlebotomist will need reliable transportation and will be responsible for commuting to different locations as needed. The schedule varies, with sites generally open from 8 AM to 8 PM, with rotating Saturdays. Travel time between sites is paid, and mileage, tolls, and parking over 30 daily miles are reimbursed. The role covers locations from Far Rockaway and Arverne in Queens to various sites in Manhattan.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
