Job description

The Division of Critical Care at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is seeking full time intensivists to join its’ Division.

The PICU is a 43 bed multi-disciplinary unit admitting approximately 2200 patients/year comprised of complex medical and surgical populations. Consistent with its strong regional presence, the PICU admits patients with a wide variety of diagnoses such as sepsis, acute lung injury, multi-organ system failure, multi-system trauma, bone marrow and solid organ transplant, and acute neurological emergencies. Capabilities are typical for a large quaternary PICU which includes high level ventilatory support modalities including specialty gases and HFOV, renal replacement therapies, plasma exchange, and an active ECMO program that performs 30 cases/year. 

The clinical services are staffed by pediatric and other rotating residents as well as a strong team of PICU hospitalists and APRNs. The Division of Critical Care has a 7-person fellowship program and pediatric emergency medicine fellows also rotate through the PICU. The ideal candidate would have training in a quaternary care ICU with the capability of leading multi-disciplinary teams in a busy clinical environment. Special considerations would be given to those candidates who have well-developed academic interests, additional training beyond primary fellowship, a strong QI background, or clinical research experience.

Faculty appointments are available through an affiliation with the University of Missouri-Kansas City and will be commensurate with experience.
